The brake fluid and clutch reservoirs are separate I believe mate, sit right next To each other

I'm aware if this but I was also aware some vehicles shared this fluid in some vehicles I'd owned.

Just was checking my clutchc feels spongey and it's A big power one so don't know why ATM. Really annoying me.

Going to do whole new fluid flush when I put my new gearbox in . Just annoying me I have I use it for work still

 

Yeh misread that there mate, I'd say changing the fluid would be a good starting point if it's a greeny colour and see how you go from there

I'd check if theres a brake fluid leak somewhere if the reservoir has suddenly got low :shock: sounds like air has got into the system as a result if things are feeling spongy. I'd go careful until you sorted it out and bled the system imo, if no leak on the lines maybe master cylinder? clutch isn't slipping is it I don't know if the fluid is shared.

 

Na no slipping just horrid pedal feel and brakes feel minging too but they are also shot in their pads and will be being fixed this week. I'm going to get pads done and brakes and clutch fluid flushes and see how I go.

If it remains I'll buy a new master cylinder if that fails guess I've goosed my stage 4 already lol

 

If all the pads are low, then that would be the reason the brakes fluid is low too... I wouldn't top it up until after you've done the pads and rewound the caliper pistons back.

BTW, my bottle of new DOT4 is a horrible green colour.

 

Cheers for the replies , it's the clutch feeling soft I'm really concerned about as it was a new fx400 less then 8k ago and I don't launch it, but it became soft after some spirited driving and my gearbox going , I have a new box at home waiting to go in a just hope I didn't ruin a seal on the master cylinder. Does anyone know how much the fn2 master cylinder and slave is ?

Or any upgrades which would go in for a similar price

Possibly bud . What's the seal on the reservoir cap like?

 

Will take a look later mate and let you know. Where else should I check ? Pedals and firewall ?

 

All the hydraulics is in the bay or under the car . The reservoir, booster and all lines etc . You need to work out if moisture was in the system or got in . If moisture can get in fluid can get out so it will be easy to find. Refit the pads and re bleed fresh fluid . I would be tempted to put through some cheap **** too to flush it then some high quality fluid . Then monitor the fluid level for a few days

 

If you want to flush the system is good to do it with cheap fluid but with the same specification?
