I assume coil packs arent bolted down on the 1.4 like they are on the 1.8?

 

looking at the workshop manual it looks like they are the same

@Das if you have fn2workshop.co.uk to hand and search under 2010 & FN4 it shows that they are.

so plug must have worked loose pretty badly

 

There must be a good space inside the coil for the plug to turn out, then pressure just blew the whole lot. Weird.

 

Plugs wuld never 'blow out' if they are properly fitted assuming that the threads are not faulty

 

that's what I was thinking - have the threads been crossed or stripped?

 

Plugs had been in 2 years and.26k Torqued to Factory Spec by me personally, Unfortunately it's a known issue on the L13 engine across various forums the US Fit forums have had numerous instances of this happening. In my case a plug with a used coil got it running long enough to trade it in, Shame really it had been a fantastic car up to that point.
