Hi everyone. Im new here and hope i will get some answers. Just brought an civic Si 2010 1.8 fully automatic ( not i-shift) and i have to replace the starter motor. On cold start makes a loud noise. It happens only one time. Second start after 2 minutes of engine running, the noise its gone. I been told the solenoid doesn’t retract in time. Anyway, my question is, does starter motors from manuals and i-shift gearboxes are the same as the fully automatic ones? Looking for the part by the VIN number, same part number comes up as the manual ones ( 31200-RNA-003). Thx in advance!!

You can take the starter out, then clean and relube the shaft if need be. Or get a mechanic to do it for you. (y)
I was thinking about fixing it but on ebay an refurbished one with 12 months warranty costs 65£. I rather get that one but not sure it will fit. That’s why i was asking if all starter motors are same on manual and fully automatic.

On both manual and fully automatic ones its same part number 31200-RNA-003 and same price. At the garage they told me it’s different 😳😳. Im starting to believe the garage wants to rip me of my money saying that they can get the right part but its a bit more expensive. Im now waiting for an answer from honda.

That means on both gearboxes its the same starter. I also tried to find some measures for the ring gear on solid flywheel and torque converter. Couldn’t find anything about. Im just gonna give it a try and if it doesn’t fit than i will go with the garage option to get one. Thank you a lot!!!
