Hi. There is no need to make any work with calipper piston. Pads will be the same so no issue on that, if you need this tool for next time if you need to change pads.
For ABS fault I mesured 8.2kOhm and rear left had no resistance. Cheap sensor had worked for half a year - no problem so far.
Tools what I used: nut tool 10; 12; 14; 15. Screwdriver. Electrical trill size 6mm and 8mm. Hammer. Jack. Ceramic grease.
Most difficult or time consuming is sensor removal and hole cleaning. All other is usual fun.
how hard is the sensor to change?

Every car I have changed pads on I have always managed by gently levering the pistons back in with a screwdriver between the disc and piston, no need for fancy tools takes just a few seconds.
The rear caliper pistons need to be turned whilst they are compressed, I wouldn't fancy trying that your way, unless I had a wish to put a philips through my hand

I've found that some pistons retract easily yet others are a royal PITA.

Having the tool nearby can be great time saver if you get a sticky piston.

The tool isn't expensive.

Far,

ÂŁ13.00 on Amazon!

I've just had this problem. The garage said the faults came up as offside front ABS sensor and the nearside front fault was coming up as 'open circuit'. I take it this is the same thing? They seem unsure that replacing the sensor will cure that side...but i think it will.

It will mate. 99% of the time the open circuit error means the sensor is shot, it's very very unlikely that the open circuit is caused by a deeper wiring fault. I have just changed my ABS sensor and purchase one new on ebay for ÂŁ16.00 and it's worked a charm. The lights went out immediately and the car is driving great. I would never pay the dealership prices. Absolute rip off.

Yeah that's my thinking! Going to replace them both with pattern parts! fingers crossed that will be the end of it!

I have to do my front passenger ABS sensor tomorrow, did the sensor eventually come out the hub easy? I've heard a lot of people saying they seize tight, I initially went to purchase a second hand genuine Honda sensor but the breakers said they couldn't get one out a hub. Had to settle for a new aftermarket!

Haha, you're welcome.

Use a high temperature grease on the sliders.

That's the ones, the pins that the calipers slide on.

Modern calipers often need a piston retraction tool to twist the piston back. They aren't expensive and a left and right handed set can be sourced for < ÂŁ20. If you have this then you know you are covered. Something like this; 21PC Universal New Brake Caliper Piston Rewind Wind Back Tool Kit: Amazon.co.uk: Car & Motorbike
Hi
Is it possible just to take off the sensor to clean or replace it or you must have to open or release the pads and go through all this polawa as I don't have much of these fancy tools and secondly I never opened or changed the pads etc
Thanks

Sensor is usually destroyed during removal. You could try cleaning first. If you dont know how to service brakes, give it to a mechanic, you cant mess around with this stuff. Get them to show you how its done then decide if you can do it yourself next time eh?

Thanks bud will try it was rare offside sensor the local mechanic quote me for 75 pounds including part so I booked it for Monday before that Honda Honda give a quote which was costing nearly arms and legs that's why was looking for some answers
Thanks
Mate please do it yourself, it pains me to hear ÂŁ75.00 when I am a total amature and change this myself for ÂŁ15.00. The part was ÂŁ15.00 on ebay and took me an hour to change it, it's so easy :/

I just want to say thank you to everyone for great guidelines on this tread. You saved me lots of ÂŁ!

I had VSA and ABS warning message on dashboard. It appeared randomly at first and became permanent after few days. DTC code 17, diagnosed with Chinese Delphi ds150e by a friend, Left Rear ABS sensor fault. I replaced it yesterday with cheap aftermarket ÂŁ16 sensor from Ebay.
[cant paste link due to forum restrictions - bought it from user iautomotive.solutions ]

All mountings ,cable length , diameters are identical to genuine Honda sensor (BTW genuine sensor at Honda costs ÂŁ180, parts and labour quote about ÂŁ300).
It is a one hour-ish , straight forward job. ABS/ VSA warning message disappeared immediately after connecting new sensor.

Looks like i have the same issue. Don't suppose you found a useful how to guide to do it or have any pictures? Tried looking at the original post but all the pictures seem to have been removed / corrupted.

my abs light came on stayed on for two months decided to pay the money a go to hondas this weekend it went off befor i could go but seems as if the front drivers side is coming on any ideas what to do
i tried pluging in my odb dongle but no codes come up

abs sensor from honda are around ÂŁ150 each then theres the fitting
sensors on ebay work fine and can be bought for aboutÂŁ13 each upwards if you really want to be sure a good code reader that reads abs faults can be bought for around ÂŁ100
half hour or so to change them yourself unless there a absolute pain to come out
im sure bill from honda would be at least ÂŁ200 for 1 sensor fitted
