Does anyone have an idea how much tuning camshaft usually costs?

P.S. I'll drop an email tomorrow morning.

P.P.S. But remember you can gain 160 hp with modifying just intake and exhaust (+removing cats). But that doesn't mean your car will accelerate faster: you still have to edit the "fuel usage map" (don't know the right word sorry, that's something to do with remapping). So even if you gain 180 hp you still have to do a small remapping so the car go fast as 180 hp :).
Camshaft only will not provide anything to our car.
Re-mapping is a must in such modification. Here in Greece a very famous tuning shop for HONDA has already a solution that can give up to 20HP with only a few mods in exhaust and intake filter. With a camshaft+exhaust+racing catalysator+intake we should expect much more.

what ecu / remap is there for 1.8 engine?
can you give me names / internet links?

the tuning shop that panos said are instaling greedy ultimate piggy back!!!!!we are going to instal it also!!!!!so everything else that we have installed works fine!!!intake, exhaust, racing catalyzator etc!!!espasually the camshaft(if they are going to make one)!!!with the piggy back we can increase are rpm to 7400 if we change also the valve springs!!!!

so if some civinfo members just send one simple email to skunk2 maybe we will have the opportunity to reach 180 hp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saranto the time is coming, I am planning on september to do the instalaltion!

what instalation my friend????thr greddy ultimate?i am going to to it also!!!!but first i will instal 4.7 Final Gear Ratio, Lightweight Crome-Moly Forged Flywheel Lightweight Aluminium Pulley Kit.i think i will be ready at october for the piggyback

Yes the ultimate!
Hopefully I will make also the 4.7 Final Gear Ratio same time and I am thinking to raise the limiter to 7200, changing of course the engine springs.
But this is a decision that I will take then.

I thin in our case in no news, bad news! :(

NEWS FOR CAMSHAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:)
after a big research from my friend alexps we no for sure that the camshaft from the honda r20 engine can be installed to our r18a engine!!!!
the camshaft can be only be installed with a piggy back so it can work!!!!
the horsepower will be about 180hp

Are you saying you will win 40 BHP by changing the camshaft?
If I'm not mistaking, the R20 engine is the one from the CRV and Accord petrol 2.0 ? If so, this engine has only 150 BHP stock.
Who gave you the info you can win 40 BHP with this camshaft? Is there any gain at all? The difference might be a loss of BHP, do you realise this?
The valves of the R20 are bigger, so more air can pass through with the same or LESS valvelift compared to the R18. And: the opening/closing timing is optimised for the 2.0. Did you check this all out before bringing the good news? Please do, maybe your stock camshaft is 'hotter' and 'wilder' than the R20-camshaft. Chiptuning will not change this.
The R20 has 10 more BHP because it has 200cc more displacement, not because of its camshaft.

my friend you are correct about the crv and accord the have the r20 engine and its SOCH!!!!the R18 and R20 are the same engine only thing that is deferent on the r20 is that has longer journeys crank and the head is a little bit deferent!!!!the camshaft is more wild and it cam be instaled on the r18 with no problem!!!!but to instal it so it can work properly you have to use a piggyback system!!!!
the 180hp will come with a catback system(invidia) a cai(injen) a catalyst,camshaft from R20 and the piggy back;)

Hi Sarantoschios, you're right, they both have the same bore. And they have the same valve diameter also. That's good (I thaught they would have different bore). But the lobe height of the exhaust lobe, and both secondary intake valves are the same for both engines, only the primary intakelobe differs only 0,1mm (!) in lift height.
=> the extra power will definitely not come from a difference in the lift height.
Why do you expect the timing to be different for the 2.0 engine? Why should overlap be different? The pistons travel from TDC to the bottom in the same time/cranshaftdegrees (same bore=piston speed will be higher). Have you got the spec sheet of the camshafts with the opening/closing degrees?
If not, this camshaft swap seems nothing more or less than an adventure.

it is not an adventure!!!!the r20 camshaft is more wilder it opens the valves more an the stay open longer!!!!that is going to give us a bit of power!!!with the piggy back we can make a setup(not me a mechanic in greece that only tunes Honda) so we can have a big advantage from the camshaft, invidia, injen catalyst.on many greek civics that have instaled instaled invidia injen and catalyst without a piggyback system and program we have on the dynometer +(15-17) hp so we expect with the piggyback and the camshaft to rich the 175-180 hp.
Also i want to tell you that a civic in europe has already done what i tell you and it works great!!!i personaly have injen invidia and catalyst and at february i will instal the camshaft and the piggyback system with program

theoretically you're right. my scepticism comes from not knowing if the camshafts are 100% the same. if that's thrue..... i have injen, invidia is on the way....can't wait

instal also the catalyst you are going to see huge increase of power!!!!!all the packet(invidia-injen-catalyst)is great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p:p:pmore power and great sound!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:p:p:p:p:p:p

Hi mate, maybe I was not clear, but I just told you the lobes of the R20 cam have EXACTELY the same height for:
- exhaust lobe
- 2 out of the 3 intake lobes
The only difference is 0,1 mm for ONE intake lobe.
So don't tell me they open more. Who told you all this? Somebody who wants to sell you an R20 camshaft?
If you now tell me the R20 cam is wilder, but you don't have any data, allow me to have some doubt, because I see no reason at all why the R20 engine should have different timings. Especially as this R20 is not as powerfull per liter as the R18 ! The R18's camshaft should be 'wilder': it has 2,77 bhp more per liter and goes higher into revs.
I can be wrong, but as it is you who will invest money in this, you should try to find out IF there is a difference and if so: do your valves really stay open longer?
