Its really up to yourself tbh. 0w20 is recommended due to the K20 having a chain driven engine and us living in a cooler climate. TBH id stick to 0/20 or go 0/40, that gives you thin oil for start up protection in the 0 rating but a higher hot range in the 40 which may help resist burning off. Honda spec about 6 different oils for most of their engines from 0/20 to 10/40 in a pinch.
Thanks for that. I'll stick with genuine Honda oil which they used. Sounds like going with 5w-40 or 0w-20 would be a good bet. Question now is, would be it okay just topping it up with said oil? I keep seeing different opinions on mixing oils.

So now I'm being told there was a misunderstanding with the sales rep and the service technicians. They put in Mobil 0w-30 as per their guidelines (0w-30 being the 'fuel efficient' choice).

0w20 is the primary recommended Honda oil - BUT the manual is clear that other grades listed are absolutely fine, including the 5w30 that I use (mainly because I had 20l of the stuff left over from a previous vehicle) - but given that the engine is definitely quieter with the 5w30 than the 0w20 that was in it when I bought it I'll likely get another 20l of 5w30 when I need more.

ANY of the grades listed in the manual are fine to use - the 0w20 is ONLY specced as the main oil by Honda for emissions regulations (to satisfy the EU bean counters) and in the UK there is absolutely no need for a 0w oil, we never see temperatures low enough for 5w to be an issue at all, I would not push it to 10w for an oil in winter tho, and in terms of MPG you won't see any discernible real world difference between a 0w & a 5w, many do say that a 5w30 offers better protection for the engine than a 0w20 but I personally have not seen any data to support that.

Regarding mixing oils - if it is just a top up and a change is due in the not too distant future, I wouldn't worry about matching grades/brands but as a general rule I guess matching would be best practice

Thanks for that. Considering my Honda Dealer have actually used Mobil Synthetic 0w-30, I am going to Halfords and picking up Mobil 5w-30. Not much difference in grade there and it's the same brand.
