Hi All,

I am a translator working and live here in Hungary, and I was glad to get a work to translate the Service Guide of 2006 Civic to Honda Hungary, the official main dealer of Honda cars in this country. Now I know my car very well - I think, since I translate the whole service book...

Unfortunately it is strictly copyrighted :( but I would like to share a spectacular self-diagnostic method of the dashboard! Worth trying!

Ignition key in zero position
Press and hold down the Sel/Reset button on the steering wheel
Turn on the light
Turn ignition into On(II) position
Turn the light off, then on, then off again
Release the Sel/Reset button.
Within 5 seconds press the Sel/Reset button three times
Enjoy! ;)

When the "show" ends press the Sel/Reset button again for restart.
You can finish the show by turning the ignition off.

Szegri,

I have the Civic 5 ajtĂłs manual. All of 482 pages of it! And an English one too as my dealer gave that too me first

When you say "Turn on the light". Which light do you mean?

Köszönjük szépen a segítséget!

Unfortunately the whole text (500.000+ words) is in segments, that means that I am not translating the book itself just segments and sentences and picture text etc. The whole book will be released soon but only in Hungarian. The original English version will not be available. Will you be fine with the Hungarian version? :D:D:D

Good job szegri!

A month ago I've downloaded the official service manual CD from the internet. (Avalible languages: HUNGARIAN, Italian... other east european countries.)

Szép munka! Köszsönjük!;)

I've just rechecked it and it works. I wrote the steps correctly. Did you turned on the low beam headlight (not the parking light)? And do not release the Sel/Reset button until the 6th step. I've tried it with door open and secured handbrake and it worked. Try again! :)

For those who did not manage it: The needles (Rev, Fuel, Engine temp) go up to the max, then back. All indicator lights are flashing and the upper part (speedometer, Rev and Eco LEDs) flashes as well. Beeping test sounds as well.

There are some other tests with the climate but they are for service personnels: Ignition in I position. Hold down both the Auto and Recirculation buttons then turn the key to II. position. The A/C system checks itself. With pressing the mirror/rear windshield heater button you can change the data.

There is another test case I do not remember now but I will check it. It is about the outer and inner temp and the position of the airmixing doors inside the dashboard. It shows the % opening of the airmixing doors that distribute the air. Not so spectacular.

And BTW does east Europe include Finnish?

Finland is kind of in the eastern part of Europe

That is brilliant!
Only worrying thing is that you can drive off while it's doing it and you have NO sign of your revs, speed or anything else.
(I only went very slowly out of my car park; so maybe it resets when you hit 10mph or something.

Do you have any idea how you get to the diagnostics menu on the non-EX models?

I have done this a few times now, is there any chance of doing damage to car or guages by playing with this??????
