Hi! I've just finished ordering parts for my new project... Will keep updating this post for anyone interested.

Just got the following:
Type S arches
Type S side skirts
Type R front grill
Type R rear light center cluster
Black mirror caps

To come:
Mugen spoiler
Mugen rear bumper/diffuser
Custom Type R front splitter + front lip

Will get everything color coded to match my Silver Champagne metallic FK2.

When the body work is done, next to be changed is rims, exhaust and suspension!

I actually think the silver will look fantastic on yours with the type R kit!

Just a few hours ago I bought those Tein springs (arriving tomorrow) and I picked up the wheels. No clue if they will fit but I'm hoping they will fill the arches nicely. They're pretty good looking wheels.

Unfortunately I won't be saving much money as all 4 of these tyres are old and will need replacing very soon, although they've had very little use so I might see if I can stretch them a few months at least.

Frosted dark smoke vinyl coming soon for the centre light cluster (front and back with a cutout for the fog light, and front fogs as mine are severely discoloured)...

Not sure what else I have planned at the moment.

I really ought to make my own mod thread [emoji1783]

By the way - get one of those cheap short shifter kits and fit it. Gear shifts feel amazing now!

I'm looking forward to seeing your car with the wheels and springs fitted! 🤩

I actually have one of those FN2 short shifter adapter from AliExpress. But i have no idea how to install it. 🤣👍

So am I!

There's guides on here about installing the shifter kit. It's a bit of hard work but actually quite simple. Look up "civinfo mk 8 japspeed short shifter how to" on Google, you should find the post I used. Lots of pictures in it, it's a really good guide.

I'm on my phone so don't have a link right now but I'm sure you'll find it.

Yup, that's them. They are rarely on stock because this Japanese guy modifies OEM lights.

Your lights looks amazing!! Unfortunately i don't have the skills to do my own, so i bought these. But i think i like yours more, because they are still somewhat red and not completely black/gray when turned off. And more OEM looking with a modern twist.

LED footwell lights are awesome. Mine are just USB but I tucked all the wiring under the centre console and into a 3-way 12v adapter with 2 USBs on it, which is in the little cubby hole behind the gear stick. The little IR sensor thing pokes out beside the passenger seat so I can still change colours and stuff.

They're cheap and easy, what's not to love?

Also - the Mugen tow strap is a nice addition!

Deffo needs that bumper on to pull the rear end together. Great progress though, making me jealous

Are you gonna match the colour of the trim or have it black?
I agree! And thanks 👍😃

I think i will have the lower part of the rear bumper black and the blade of the spoiler black. And rest colour matched to the car.

Hopefully i'm going to test fit it all soon. Will take some pictures and try out the colours in Photoshop.. before taking it to the paint shop.

Thanks for sharing. This post is actually what inspired me to do this conversion in the first place. 👍😅

And yeah. I bought this 8th gen as a cheap daily commuter. But ended up really liking this car. A FN2 type r was one of my favorite cars when i was 18. So now i'm going to fulfill this old dream (even if it's just a 1.8) 😁

This shows how different we all are which is a good thing. I would far prefer a standard car on the outside that was a type R underneath than the other way around. It would frustrate the hell out of me to look at the outside and then have no get up and go when I started it up or got overtaken by chipped diesel cars! But that’s just me and whatever makes you happy is what’s important.
Yeah, those pesky chipped oil burners are a bit quick, and still get 50+mpg ! Lol...:giggle:

Lol yep they are a bit quick... As car enthusiasts, our cars are a representation of who we are. Unique and no other is the same, we don't like being standard lol.

Plus cheaper car insurance, cheaper road tax, better MPG.

If I didn't care about any of that and had loads of money to throw then I'd have a Turbo'd FN2 with over 400bhp right away.
Or the crazy looking FK8.

Update after test fitment:

The front spilitter fitment was terrible. Big gaps and way too weak/thin taps. I'm trying to get the money back for that one and will go for OEM type R front splitter or GP splitter.

The mugen wing and rear bumper is pretty good fitment! I'm doing some minor modification because i got a towing hook on the car. But i think it will work out perfectly.
