This one is very curious, where the heck have I seen this chassis code before?

still don't like it...

Got an ES diesel for a couple of days... Must say it is generally more refined with regard to reduced road noise and overall quality. The hard plastic for the arm rests, window controls lets it down is far as the flow into the dash layout but overall I'm happy with it.

BTW, the rear end is, as others have said, much better in the flesh, the car is definitely a Civic even minus the nice twin exhausts!

I am sure that all types of vehicles are being used as "care home transport" including the 8G Civic. After all its got a very versatile boot and back seat arrangement which can accomodate wheel chairs etc.
My 9G Civic has adorned my driveway for the past three weeks. It is comfortable and great to drive. It doesn't rattle the teeth anymore (all my own) and to me looks different to the thousands Foci and Golfs on the road. So, take a test drive and then judge.

Honda desperately wanted to attract younger buyers with the launch of the 8th Gen with acceptance they may alienate the 'older' driver typically associated with Civic's.... Unfortunately or fortunately (depending on your point of view), the old'ens liked it and bought it... and I guess are still the biggest % of owners.

The is an old boy round my way that can hardly walk and must be in his late 80's (or had a tough life) and drives an 07 EX... god knows how he get's on with all the bells and whistles.... may explain why he drives at 15mph... trying to work out what button to press lol

It was always going to be difficult to match the 'wow' factor that the 8th gen gave when that was released. But having seen the pics and seen one in the flesh at Honda, there doesnt seem to be any 'wow' about this. It looks so ordinary and in my opinion, the 8th gen is a far better looking car. The dash and the ac contols etc in the centre could be straight out of any car on the road. You just couldnt say the same about the 8th gen. Obviously i cant comment on how the thing drives but to me, 'Prius' comes to mind from the outside and the space ship look of the 8th gen seems to have been toned down to a more ordinary look.

The A/C works well and provides more info than 8th gen, shows you current fans speed and direction of air flow, when set on auto provides a dynamic read out. Also drives well...

i can afford a new one but it won't be on my test drive list - it's pig ugly! I thought the idea was you replaced the older model with a better one , preferably even better looking than the previous model. In my view Honda have failed with this one.

I hated the car based on the pictures Honda released and such but having seen it in the flesh I have to admit it looks a lot better in person! Also the improving of the fit and finish is well noticed, and I would have one with some visual tweaks!

well i've done it, traded in my 2007 1.4se vivid blue and ordered the 1.8 es millano red. fell for it straight away when i seen it. had seen it in silver, black and polished metal and did'nt like the colours. i also ordered the sports grille and fuel tank door cover. a new set of alloys were going to cost me €1000 euro more so i left them for now:(

I sat in a Milano red 9th gen Civic today at Springfield Honda and I must say I was fairly impressed. Seats were really comfortable, stearing wheel felt good, doors closed with a solid thunk and the dash seemed tidy and stylish. The boot is still huuuuge. I thought the back of the car was good actually, the lights flare out at the back and from certain angles gives the impression of a wing.

For a solid, sensible, stylish and, at first glance, well built everyday hatchback it seems good.

Personally I will cast my final judgments on the 9th gen when the 'performance' models become available but I expect this model will 'sport up' quite nicely.

:)

TBH you don't really notice the blank as its to the left of the dash on the RHD model, the ECO button is more noticeable being in the normal start button postion...

It looks pretty good to me. It's not as sharp or instantly eye catching like the 8th gen but when you compare it to the other hatchbacks out there it still looks original and stylish overall even if a couple of features look a bit odd at certain angles. Surely this has got to be a good trade off if the quality has been improved on top.
