Speed sensor spacer/washer

Hi, sorry for the long post. I'm brand new here and haven't been able to find the right information anywhere else.
I recently had the clutch replaced on my 2009 2.2 i-ctdi SE. Following that, my speedo started going nuts and eventually just dropped to zero.

It turns out the Vehicle Speed Sensor had been damaged because the garage that did it hadn't put the spacer/washer back on and it's been ground up by the transmission because it had been pushed in too deep.
They're refusing to accept any responsibility for the botched work and if I had the time and the energy I could take it to Trading Standards, but at this point I just want it fixed.
I've got a replacement sensor, but I wonder if anyone on here has any idea what size spacer is needed before I bolt the new one on and it gets chewed up again.

Sorry again for the long post, but thanks in advance to anyone who took the time and might have an answer.

Thanks Farqui. I had a look on Ling's and it's part #22 on the diagram, however it unfortunately doesn't state a size.

I have a friend helping me out and we're going to try larger washers and work down until the sensor starts sending a signal, and then we can just work on calibrating it from there. Still, any clues on an approximate size of the washer would be welcome if anyone has any idea.

Thanks again,

Mike

Does anybody know what the part number(s) are for speed sensor and the washer?

I test drove a car that I'm potentially going to buy. When I got in the speedo wasn't showing anything, no speed, no type R, no rev indicator. Based on the fact there's no display I'm thinking it's electrical but could well be the same issue.

I couldn't feel the VTEC kick in as I'd expect, so thinking this is because the engine couldn't see the rev lights :wink3:

Curiously the display for the indicators do work.
