Hello All

Happy New Year and all...

With the recent fog we have had over the last month I have actually been using my front fog lights and low and behold... one of the bulbs blew on the first day it was actually foggy!

I have looked at this thread: [how to install headlights] and I have looked in the manual. The manual states that there is a screw underneath the bumper... no there isn't on my type s. there are two holes either side but couldnt get a screwdriver long enough to see if there was a screw up there... should there be?

Basically I was hoping somebody could help me who may have replaced a front fog bulb on a type s?

Thanks in advance...

Ant

I've had a look at my manual and it does state next to the title for replacing the fog light bulb that it is 'for some types'. :(

I remember having a look at how I would replace a front light bulb when I fitted my front splitter, whilst I had the bumper off. The fog light is held into the bumper with two 6mm nuts.

When I refitted the bumper I found I could get access to it by easing the black plastic inner wing to one side and get on the two nuts with a 10mm socket and ratchet.

Have a look at pictures number 2,3,4 and 5 in this post, this should then release the inner wing shield and allow you access to the back of the bumper where the fog light is mounted. :)

Cheers for the response.

I was hoping it wouldnt require removing trim! never had to on any other car...

I just went out to try until I realised that it was so cold I could no longer feel my fingers!

Thanks again and I will retry when It warms up a little!

you do not need to remove the bumper, all you need is a 10mm socket on a long extenstion and put it up through the small holes under the front bumper, undo the nut and the whole fog light should come out, its a little fiddley but easy to do

That's what Antmaz is saying, he can't see this screw through the hole in the bumper. I don't even have the hole on my car. The manual states that this method will only work on some models.

I'm not suggesting he removes the bumper, merely unclips the trim to release the black plastic inner arch shield which will allow access to the back of the fog light.

you do have to get right under the car and the holes are small ,a 10mm socket just fits but it is a tight fit,and you do need it on an extension

ok... I tried to go by the manual: on the passenger side the holes definitely do not have any bolts/screws that can be undone ( I even looked with a torch with the car jacked up). On the Drivers side, there is just metal bumper but no bolts/screws. I attempted to "simply" unclip the wheel arch cover and pull back the liner... this did not expose the rear of the fog light!!!

Really can't fathom out how I am going to change the blown bulb... or the other one if It ever needs doing!! help!

I have a 2.2 ES 57 plate

I replaced the fog with MR JP's 6500k bulb. I used a 300mm extension bar on a 3/8th ratchet with a 10mm deep socket. Put some grease or blue tack into socket so that when you undo the bolt it will not drop out but stick to the socket.

On mine there is a 6mm bolt that holds the fog light on. It will take a while to locate the bolt but endure and you will find. Shine a torch up through the holes and you will see it. it is the hole furthest away from the wheel. The second hole nearest the number plate or centre.

My bulbs look well cool!

I have been looking for the holes through which you are supposed to get access to the bolts to release the fog light assembly, but to no avail. I guess I will have to replace the lights as I replace the front splitter when weather becomes a bit warmer this spring.

if you got the two holes on the under side of your splitter then u can get a ten mill socket on an long extention, and out some blue tac on the inside of the socket and undo the nut ten the fog light can be removed one hole is for the ten mil, and the second hole is for the adjustment of the light beam or pattern, if your car dose not have the holes, then u will have to remove the arch trim half way, and remove your bumper, because no matter how much you try u will not be able to get the bulb out through the inner liner on one side and you wont have a chance on the other side as the wiper washer bottle will be in your way,
my car is a type s gt and never had the holes, so when fitting hids to on the fog lights i drilled out two holes in case i need to access the fog lights in future ,
just take your time, the bumper and trim are real easy to get off, just have a something soft to put the bumper on as the pain scratches very easy
