Right ive come across a hondata ecu available on ebay but ive also seen alot of people mention flashpro. I assume both are similar things which would you guys prefer?

I have a 57 plate R with a miltek system fitted and K&N panel filter. Should these mods improve gains with the addition of one of the products above!

Many thanks

Any info is really appreciated

Their are basically the same product but flashpro is the new version which reprogrammes your oem ecu unlike the hondata ecu which replaces the oem ecu. The other advantage of flashpro is it can be custom mapped to your car where as the hondata ecu only comes with the pre programmed group n map

As above. Flashpro is basically software - you can load custom maps on to your existing ECU. Hondata is hardware - a new ECU that replaces the existing OEM ECU with a "hardcoded" mapping.

I believe (please somebody correct me if I am wrong) that the Hondata results in the immobiliser being disabled but FlashPro does not have this issue.

DOn't want to be a pedant, but to be clear Hondata is the manufacturer of the Flashpro which is their latest OBD-II programming device for the Honda ECU made by Hondata. Flashpro Manager is the software you use.

Hondata previous sold the K-Pro which was a reflashed ECU.

The Flashpro is what you should buy, new or used, for Euro FN2 cars.

Almost true ;)

For the FN2 there is the Hondata ECU (K-Pro was for the EP3). Flashpro is the software to re-map the OEM ECU.

You should use what will suit you best. If you do not intend to buy any mods for you car, and wish for the cheaper option (and can deal with the immobiliser issue) then the Hondata ECU will suffice, otherwise go FlashPro.

Blade is correct in that they are both made by Hondata, just one is a new ECU with a fixed map, the other is software for remapping the existing ECU with a custom map (to suit any mods you may have).

Bugger - that's what you get for typing late at night! Managed to get the Hondata ECU and K-Pro mixed up!

Oh well.. they were both "before my time" (Honda wise). The Flashpro still would be my choice as a better overall investment as it tends to fetch good money afterwards

Having seen your M200 project (OMG ), I was scared to contradict you but alas, is true ;)

I entirely agree - FlashPro would be my choice - never say never to mods :)

Except that you have all forgotten that the Hondata replacement ECU for the FN2 was the Hondata Group N ECU.

One for sale here:http://www.civinfo.com/forum/items-sale/49474-hondata-group-n-ecu.html

Hondata Group N replacement ECU page here: Reflash - Euro 07 Civic Type R

Hondata Flashpro with Flashpro manager is here: FlashPro Civic Si

The previous replies, I think, assumed the OP was referring to the Group N ECU, and some of the terminology they were using confused matters.

And yes to confuse matters even further, the Flashpro Manager software for Flashpro comes with the Group N map that you can upload and retain the immobiliser and fuel/trip computer etc, which was lacking on the Group N replacement ECU.

Yes as above, in short, go for the Flashpro, as you will not be able to get a custom map on the Group N ECU.

.

i got the group n ecu and my fuel gauge and trip computer work fine its just my immobiliser that has been disabled

Yep, nothing wrong with the trip and fuel gauges with the Hondata Group N Ecu - and I read that it is also possible to get a key coded to the Group N Ecu that will enable the imobiliser if required... but I haven't checked that out.

flashpro

Is it a worthy mod?
How much does it add to insurance?
Won't it put additional pressure on the engine if its vtec'd all the time?
How is fuel consumption? - I currently get 28mpg (avg over 8000 miles) what is this likely to change to?

In terms of 'bang for your buck' how do people rate this mod?
My cars completely stock but Im really tempted to do some work...:S

Is it a worthy mod? Yep defo
How much does it add to insurance? Yeah but this will depend on your insurer!
Won't it put additional pressure on the engine if its vtec'd all the time? Vtec ain't always on mine kicks innat 3800 at full throttle but if light throttle it's doesn't kick in till normal vtec
How is fuel consumption? - I currently get 28mpg (avg over 8000 miles) what is this likely to change to? Mines stayed the same!

In terms of 'bang for your buck' how do people rate this mod? Excellent, my car is standard with a custom map the car has completely changed for the best!

Hi all. So if I were to buy a flashpro for ÂŁ585 (presume they dont' come up second hand as will be paired to the car?), then how do I go about getting maps for it? How much is that?

#21 ·
They do come up s/h for 350 to 400 quid. You will need proof that it's been unlocked from the previous owners car, normally a screenshot is provided. There is a group n map on Flashpro which is OK, but the chosen option is to get a custom map, etunes are around ÂŁ160 and dyno tunes are usually more.

Ahhhh sounds very familiar to the rs tuner for clios and cobb for mps?

#23 ·
Ask TDi North too, they PX them when people go ECUTEK and sell them on cheaper, at least you know they will be unlocked properly then.
