Their are basically the same product but flashpro is the new version which reprogrammes your oem ecu unlike the hondata ecu which replaces the oem ecu. The other advantage of flashpro is it can be custom mapped to your car where as the hondata ecu only comes with the pre programmed group n map

 

As above. Flashpro is basically software - you can load custom maps on to your existing ECU. Hondata is hardware - a new ECU that replaces the existing OEM ECU with a "hardcoded" mapping.

I believe (please somebody correct me if I am wrong) that the Hondata results in the immobiliser being disabled but FlashPro does not have this issue.

 

Correct Flashpro doesnt turn the immobiliser off

DOn't want to be a pedant, but to be clear Hondata is the manufacturer of the Flashpro which is their latest OBD-II programming device for the Honda ECU made by Hondata. Flashpro Manager is the software you use.

Hondata previous sold the K-Pro which was a reflashed ECU.

The Flashpro is what you should buy, new or used, for Euro FN2 cars.

For the FN2 there is the Hondata ECU (K-Pro was for the EP3). Flashpro is the software to re-map the OEM ECU.

You should use what will suit you best. If you do not intend to buy any mods for you car, and wish for the cheaper option (and can deal with the immobiliser issue) then the Hondata ECU will suffice, otherwise go FlashPro.

Blade is correct in that they are both made by Hondata, just one is a new ECU with a fixed map, the other is software for remapping the existing ECU with a custom map (to suit any mods you may have).

Oh well.. they were both "before my time" (Honda wise). The Flashpro still would be my choice as a better overall investment as it tends to fetch good money afterwards

Except that you have all forgotten that the Hondata replacement ECU for the FN2 was the Hondata Group N ECU.

i got the group n ecu and my fuel gauge and trip computer work fine its just my immobiliser that has been disabled

 

Yep, nothing wrong with the trip and fuel gauges with the Hondata Group N Ecu - and I read that it is also possible to get a key coded to the Group N Ecu that will enable the imobiliser if required... but I haven't checked that out.

Hi all. So if I were to buy a flashpro for £585 (presume they dont' come up second hand as will be paired to the car?), then how do I go about getting maps for it? How much is that?

 

They do come up s/h for 350 to 400 quid. You will need proof that it's been unlocked from the previous owners car, normally a screenshot is provided. There is a group n map on Flashpro which is OK, but the chosen option is to get a custom map, etunes are around £160 and dyno tunes are usually more.

 

Ahhhh sounds very familiar to the rs tuner for clios and cobb for mps?

 

Ask TDi North too, they PX them when people go ECUTEK and sell them on cheaper, at least you know they will be unlocked properly then.
