Use this site... OBD II Fault Codes p1059 ...you need to edit the URL to add in your DTC, e.g. overwrite the 'p1059' part with the code you need to look up. Be aware that you can only use this site 3 or 4 times a day, then it'll lock up (but will work OK tomorrow!).

Description of OBD II Fault code B2984

Note:

AutoHex is a professional OBD /OBD II diagnostic scanner / scan tool tester.
This fault code is a GERENRIC fault code, some cars may change the meaning of this fault code.

It always says that for every code i searched for.

hey guys i managed to grab the codes from the dash using the method with foil.. the reason i did this is my vsa and abs light are showing after a drive home from work..

its a type r gt spec with sat nav etc..!

if any of you can help me out that would be awesome..! i have the service manual cd, so i know a lil about it all but ive only had the car a few months..

This is what i think Ive found so far but i dont see anything to do with the abs/vsa system..

before it came on i didnt do anything like wheelspin or high speeding etc as i know this can sometimes cause them to come on etc.. just started up and did d-road driving from work..!

hi,
great thread really useful. But I still have a question,I just tried to read the codes but is says DTC No,which is strange because I have abs,vsa and hand brake lights on all time.I went to a garage to and they pulled two codes 54-1 some safe relay fault and 18-1 hardware problem to the abs modulator.
any ideas what could that be?thanks

This How To will allow you to read the DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) that the car stores. You don't need to spend £1000's on the Honda Diagnostic System, nor even £10's on special tool "MPCS short connector" (07WAZ-0010100). Instead, find some of the following:

Note: it is not critical to use recycled, though obviously it helps save the planet.

Do this entirely at your own risk. As usual, if in doubt, do not do it.

Scrunch up a small corner, and put it in the hole in the fuse box (by your right knee - RHD) as shown below. Make sure you don't touch it anywhere else.

Next turn the ignition on (position 2). Wait for 10 seconds, and your error codes (if any) will appear on the odo:

You can press i on the steering to go to the next one, until you see:

If you have no errors, it will say "DTC NO".

If you want to clear an error, press and hold SEL/RESET for more than 10 seconds. Doing this would be really dumb though, because then the dealer will not know about a fault, and will not fix it for free under warranty. It may even hide a fault that subsequently causes horrific damage, so this is really not advisable.

You can see I have a DTC "B1235" from module 51 (aircon). B1235 is "A Problem in the Driver's Air Mix Control Linkage, Door, or Motor" so a good job it's going in for service next week.

I'm not sure which modules this method will read from, but it certainly reads the MICU, gauge control module and the aircon.

If anyone has any DTCs, post them here and I'll see if I have the decode.

Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum. Ive got a honda civic 2006 (56 reg) 1.8l petrol. In my cluster ive got ABS and VSA warning light on but the issue is when I use this method to check the DTCs, there are non. It just says "DTC No".

Any idea what can be going wrong? Secondly, does anyone have a tutorial how the driver side wheel speed sensor can be changed? I believe this is the one gone faulty. When I brake, the sensor makes a high pitch noise (but not too loud) which I think indicates that its gone faulty, I might be wrong.

Thanks in advance!

Dont worry guys. I managed to fix the problem. VSS cable had snapped. Just reworked the wire and its all fine now!

mine said DTC No. However at the same time I have engine warning light. I suspect this trick does not show engine faults. After a bit of tlc engine light is now gone. It was poor earth points.

Great Instructions

I followed the instructions worked great. Last week i had a gas cap warning which i cleared. Then the next day I got a CEL, from reading the forums most people said it would clear the CEL after a few days. It has been a few days and the CEL is still up but when I used this to check the codes the display has "NO". Figured it would have a evap code or something.

Hello folks.....I too have done the DTC SERVICE thing and here are my results

PA51......B1240......B1235......B1238...

Can anyone please shed any light as to what they all mean please...

Hi,

Honda Civic '06 2.2 CDTI ES

I've been reading around and did the test and got quite a few codes... way more than I was expecting. I'm struggling to find them on the internet though.

PA50 - DTC B1177
PA51 - DTC B1241
PA51 - DTC B1240
PA51 - DTC B1235
PA51 - DTC B1238
PA51 - DTC B2991
PA74 - DTC B2375

The reason I did this was I had the glow plug light start flashing and the cooling fan took a long time to stop after turning off the car.

My googling so far found a lot of issues with regards to the climate control. The climate control seems ok to me. It's not brilliant and at worst I just thought that the temp sensor was a good 4-5 degrees off, but other than that it seems to work well. Cold when I want it, hot when I need it and the dual zone works fine too.

A lot of those I couldn't find.

Many thanks in advance.

Chris

Well further developments are that with the help of a bit of Google and friends it looks like the new codes I had where to do with the automatic light/rain sensors.
I've tested both and found both work fine and better still having used this thread to show the codes and obviously making sure everything worked I also cleared the codes and so far touch wood all is good so far.
I knew one off the codes was because when I swapped my seats from type-S to type-R I didn't take the battery off not helped by the fact I new the car I had them from was in a smash but never noticed the pretensions had fired so has lit the airbag sign up, I've swapped the pretensions from my type-s seats so all is good but I can still not get the light off the dash.
Can anyone point me in the right direction to get this sorted.

Hi,

I got ABS and VSA lights on the dashboard. I checked the error codes and i got the below:

DTC B2357
DTC B2356
DTC B2355
DTCB2991
DTCB1029
DTC B1177

I cleared them and nothing came back but the abs and VSA lights are still on.

Do you know any possible cause?

I have a civic 2.2 diesel 2006

Thanks in advance

Hi guys, I'm yet another with the ABS/VSA lights.

I drive a lot so it's worrying me, I tried the foil trick and it's reporting just one code:

B1238 Which apparently is "A Problem in the Passenger's Air Mix Control Linkage, Door, or Motor"

So sounds unrelated to ABS/VSA.

It's an 06 Civic Ex, 110k miles and so out of warranty.

Anything else I can check or is next step really a Honda garage :(:(:( ?
