Began dismantling the insides of the boot as the dreaded water leak strikes again! This is the third time now, and once again it seems to be the nearside gutter/seam. All the old tigerseal will have to come off. I’ve ordered some epoxy putty to seal it hopefully once and for all.
P.S. I may have broken a few clips along the way removing the trim panel.

Have you tiger-sealed the seams of the bodywork? I had it coming in there on both left and right sides. Also the little holes that the indicators fit into were letting water in.
 
gave betty a wash and noticed i have rust forming on both wheel arches (front) where the front bodykit fits and....shock horror at top of windscreen, jesus Honda it aint even 10yr old yet! gah

going to get a quote to sort before it gets too bad, starting to bubble, poor girl now has 77k on the clock got her 4yr ago with 13k :(
 
Gave mines a quick wash while the car was damp with dew this morning (seems to wash better and quicker that way) Used the last of my autoglym car shampoo, need to get some more. Or meguires gold class shampoo.

I managed to get my hand up inside the wing and could feel the water coming in from the top of the pillar where it goes up to the roof. Everything else feels dry, so I’m happy it’s the guttering seam.
 
Well, if I had anymore hair left I’d be pulling the rest out. Had the petrol filler replaced as the last place it leaked. After these couple of bad days of rain was perfect, bingo sorted. After yesterday’s rain fall this would be the main test as it was heavy. Checked this morning, nice little puddle in the boot. I literally give up now, bloody thing is still leaking. If I leave it like this it will eventually rust through the arch as it also runs down the seem. I’m going to try and seal around the filler from the inside, treat the area it’s been running down towards the front down the rear arch. Then once treated spray with lanogaurd just to protect as much as I can.
This makes me wanna give up and trade it in and just buy another car, frustrating it is my friends.
 
Broke the right hand glovebox hinge.

Think a pencil made its way down in the gap and I slammed the glovebox shut and it smashed the plastic hinge to bits.

I assume, based on my experiences with this car, that the glovebox is all one piece and needs to be replaced as such. And you can’t just replace the hinge.

If that is the case, then to hell with it. It still closes and latches. So I’ll just live with it.
 
I see I’m not the only one suffering a boot leak. I followed a video on YouTube and removed all the inner paraphernalia, followed by the nearside roof guttering. I picked out all the old tiger seal and once cleaned up, tried a couple of lumps of epoxy putty. Fingers crossed it works but it hasn’t rained enough yet.

Mines been going on for the last 4years. It’s just the filler cap as when it rains it runs down it comes in the boot and down arch. I have had the boot ripped out for the last 3yrs. Like explained once water finds its way. Seal one area and it just finds another. I have lottery sealed the whole boot from top to bottom. I might but some captain trolleys creeping crack repair behind the seal on the cap see if that helps.
 
Sorted my drivers seat belt. It had stopped fully reclining, by about 3-400 mm, since last year. Just something I noticed. However, pulled it all the way out and sprayed WD40, into the hole where the belt goes. Let the belt go and it fully reclined. Tried pulling it fully out a few times, reclined each time.

Just to add, no boot leak 😀

So today I decided to tackle the broken exhaust weld that attaches the rear back box to the hanger. The welding had split and the hanger was freed from the back box. The system was still solid, but I decided to secure it back anyway. Now I’m no good at welding, nor do I have the equipment. However, I saw on here somewhere that someone used a 3” exhaust clamp and thought I’d give it a go. Five minutes work and it’s solid as. Not pretty but if it works, it works.
 
The daily had its MOT and passed with flying colours
Mine also passed today 2008 2.2 Civic but definitely not with flying colours, nowhere near considering if I now bin off the car before the next MOT :(

A lot of corrosion mentioned, it could be superficial surface rust, but I think we know it isn't. I asked the mechanic who worked on it and I said should I get it properly undersealed, and he said well it's gone past that stage now, the rust has set in. So that kind of answered it for me. I'm not sure what rust remedies could be used, as I've never seen anything positive about fixing rust once it has set in. The car has done me well, it is on 174K miles. I recently spent £700 on doing the front suspension and £700 last year on replacing the rear axle, I got the front suspension done as it was knackered and one of the springs had broke, so it wouldn't have passed an MOT.
