still have an error after clearing the DTS

I have cleared the error logs using the tinfoil method but I am still seeing the "Check system" error when turning the ignition on, Can anyone help? I am about to sell the car so don't really want a garage bill. I had errors
B1225
B1240
B2991
please help

This How To will allow you to read the DTCs (diagnostic trouble codes) that the car stores. You don't need to spend £1000's on the Honda Diagnostic System, nor even £10's on special tool "MPCS short connector" (07WAZ-0010100). Instead, find some of the following:

Note: it is not critical to use recycled, though obviously it helps save the planet.

Do this entirely at your own risk. As usual, if in doubt, do not do it.

Scrunch up a small corner, and put it in the hole in the fuse box (by your right knee - RHD) as shown below. Make sure you don't touch it anywhere else.

Next turn the ignition on (position 2). Wait for 10 seconds, and your error codes (if any) will appear on the odo:

You can press i on the steering to go to the next one, until you see:

If you have no errors, it will say "DTC NO".

If you want to clear an error, press and hold SEL/RESET for more than 10 seconds. Doing this would be really dumb though, because then the dealer will not know about a fault, and will not fix it for free under warranty. It may even hide a fault that subsequently causes horrific damage, so this is really not advisable.

You can see I have a DTC "B1235" from module 51 (aircon). B1235 is "A Problem in the Driver's Air Mix Control Linkage, Door, or Motor" so a good job it's going in for service next week.

I'm not sure which modules this method will read from, but it certainly reads the MICU, gauge control module and the aircon.

If anyone has any DTCs, post them here and I'll see if I have the decode.

I Posty i just do it and i got this

civic 07 hybrid

B1079 10
B1241 51
B2990 51

what does mean those errors ?

I delete all but always appear B1079 10

i have a ABS & Brake System Light on and airbab light too.

can i read ABS error with this ?

Thanks

Please help!!!

Hi Guys

Please help!!!!

I have just carried out the procedure set out on this thread and the following error codes have come up on the display....

PA50
B1177

PA51
B1241

PA51
B1235

PA51
B2991

Can anyone decode these at all?

It's so frustrating when this happens, and I've only had the car for 3 weeks :(

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks D

OK, just had similar problems, ie 'Check System' and 'Oil Can' symbol. Did the 'tinfoil' hack and it came up with a shed-load of DTC faults telling me Central Locking was shot, no Power windows and my heating & cooling system was not working - none of this was the case so what's the real problem? Followed further instructions on clearing the codes but alas, it keep putting that Oil Can back up again!

Went to my local garage (CSM in Chesterfield) who are a small garage but very knowledgeable and withing 5 mins diagnosed the real problem with their analyser (ah, Honda are not the only ones who can do this!) - low battery voltage! Although the battery was showing a self check 'green light' it was just going under voltage (I think Pottsy mentions this several times, ie to check your battery) but as mine was fairly new and had the 'green' status, I had dismissed this good advice.

After a quick recharge and drop-test (shows as just borderline - new battery - ouch) all connect back up again and their analyser did a proper reset of the codes. Started up an no error warning light (yet) so all seems well.

Morale of the tale; a) check your battery!!! and b) as the error message is persistent, ie fixing the problem will not clear it, you may still need to take it somewhere to get the warning reset (as none of the 'self fixes' worked for me).

Cheers

I had my system check light come on a week ago and done the tin foil thing at the start of this thread, got code 1155. I reset it and light went out. About a week on the lights back on but when I check code it says DTC. NO and can't get light to turn off can anyone help please.

2 week ago the car started to take longer to turn over and start and a couple of days later it wouldny start and the management light came on. Came back to it the next day and started and worked fine, after a few days later the management light went off. the other day once again it struggled to start in the morning and then wouldnt start in the afternoon.

here are the codes i got

PA51
DTC B1241
B2983
B2991

they all seem to be for the air con which is fine is there any way this could be anything to do with it not starting?

I apologise for gate crashing a Civic board when I own an 04 Accord Tourer but this is a cry for help to Pottsy as he seems like the only genius on any forum that has come across my problem and might know how to sort it!

Since I privately bought a 2004 Accord Tourer Executive CDTI back on 23/09/11 I've had to have the key recoded, an ECU update and a new 680 amp battery fitted with my local Honda dealer on 03/11/11 after a full diagnostic check, but a week later I am getting the intermittent flashing Green Key Light again, along with the handbrake, tailgate and coil light on dashboard when vehicle is locked, stationery and key removed. Have to leave car unlocked otherwise I get the following problems:

• Immobiliser is draining the battery.

• Central locking intermittently working when using key.

• Indicator and side lights start flashing (but no alarm sound). Car does not know whether it's locked/open and therefore arming/disarming itself.

• Passenger side back window has started opening by itself. Could it be a faulty solenoid?

• If car locked and key removed from ignition can still open the electric windows.

My local Honda dealer has said I now need a "Gauge Control Module" (I only know what this is cos of Pottsy) and they are getting back to me with a price, do you really think this is what's causing my problem with the flashing green key et al or should I insist on waiting till the Master Honda Technician is next in Swansea?

Many thanks in advance!

If you look at our front page, you'll see that all Hondas are in fact welcome ! ...

Obviously, when you turn the ignition off, the power isn't turned off - cause ? - no idea ! ...

Probably nothing wrong with going with the Dealer's diagnosis, provided that you make it clear that it that doesn't fix the problem, then they won't charge you ...

Personally, given all the "strange" occurrences, I'd wait for the Honda Master Technician to give a thorough check - but with the same proviso - "no cure, no pay" ...

Help! Help! Help!

Following on from my problems earlier:

Intermittent flashing Green Key Light, along with the handbrake, tailgate and coil light on dashboard when vehicle is locked, stationery and key removed.
Immobiliser is draining the battery.
Central locking intermittently working when using key.
Indicator and side lights start flashing (but no alarm sound). Car does not know whether it's locked/open and therefore arming/disarming itself.
Passenger side back window has started opening by itself. Could it be a faulty solenoid?
If car locked and key removed from ignition can still open the electric windows (is this normal?)

I now have very little faith in my local Swansea Honda Dealer as 1st time I took my 04 Accord CDTI Tourer in they told me it was a keycode, 2nd time it was a new battery and ECU update (£180 so far), and now 3rd time their telling me it needs a new "Gauge Control Module" at £703 + £140 labour which may or may not resolve the other 2 faults of glow plug module 2 & 3 not working!!! To top it all off when driving it home from there last night my Engine Maintenance light was on and I can't go over 2000 revs or get Cruise Ctrl to work (never had this prob ** only since they've been looking at it)!!!!

Anyway I've managed to track down Honda part No: 78120-SEG-E11 (METER ASSY., SPEED & TACHO & FUEL & TEMPERATURE) from a Scrappy at £75 but does anyone know if it will work properly if I get a car electrician to fit it or do I have to go through a Honda Dealer/Specialist?? I'm at my wits end!
